Welcome to our new Ambassador – Mr Bobby Hunt
Last Tuesday (27 November) Foxburrow Grange celebrated with an afternoon tea to welcome our new and first ever ambassador, Colchester United FC Legend Mr Bobby Hunt.
Bobby and his wife, Sylvia had a VIP invitation to Foxburrow Grange so Senior Managers and Foxburrow Grange staff could express their thanks and gratitude for all the time Bobby has given the home since his own diagnosis.
Bobby himself is living with Dementia and hopes to raise the profile of dementia services within the local community.
Our Chair, Steve Marsh, presented Bobby with an award and talked about his ongoing commitment, to which Bobby described as reciprocal, as he too benefits from attending events and activities at the home, receiving practical support from the staff to him and his wife on learning about the impacts of Dementia.
‘It was really good to recognise the tremendous support Bobby Hunt and his wife Sylvia continue to give to Foxburrow by presenting him with a plaque and appointing him as our first Community Ambassador. We also had other special guests, namely previous Chairs of Outlook Care, Albert Rowley and David Thomas. I was able to acknowledge the vision and courage they displayed in planning and developing the wonderful building we have now. All 3 Chairs, (Albert, David and I) represent 30 years of the organisation.’
Foxburrow Grange are keen to promote this commitment far and wide, as so often, families just try to ‘cope’ with the impact of dementia before they look for help and support. Bobby is joining in with our events to get to know what care is available to him in the early stages of his diagnosis to help with any life changing impacts this may have. Director of Operations, Anne Cooper recognises the affection between staff, Bobby and his wife, stating ‘He is breaking down barriers bridging the gap between care home and the local community Foxburrow Grange serves.
Our CEO, Piotr Rejek said of Bobby- ‘Bobby is a great friend to Foxburrow Grange. Becoming an Ambassador for the home cements our relationship further. Thank you to Bobby for supporting local people, in Colchester, living with Dementia.’
Home Manager, Becky Pinnock said: ‘It was an absolute pleasure to award Bobby as the first ambassador of Foxburrow Grange. He is a regular and welcome visitor who joins in with the brilliant activities within the home. Bobby is a motivation to us all and we look forward to our continued partnership and friendship we have with Bobby and his wife Sylvia.’
We all welcome you to the Foxburrow Grange family Mr & Mrs Hunt.
